This new passion is about slowing down and deepening into my love of the forest and nature that I love to paint.

I’ve seen artists’ exhibitions where the tools they made are shown alongside their work. That’s always fascinated and delighted me. The care and attention they place on their tools inspiring…

So, for now, I’m wanting to savour the art and the craft of this art-making life... Slow down and notice more of nature and her textures and form…

I’m keen to hear if you’ve made your own brushes in the past, and if so, what were some of your favourite materials? If no, what would make you want to play?

So, when I’m starting to think about a new body

So, when I’m starting to think about a new body of work I mindmap my ideas / concepts and then I play with colours and find my palette.

That’s what I’m up to at the moment. My palette looks like yellow ochre/ Indian yellow, red earth/ burnt sienna and Payne’s grey with a warm white.

What’s your process for starting a new body of work? Do you come to it with an idea? Or do you have certain processes that help you find your way?

My two entries to the Art2Life International Juried Art Show... I know it’s a bit premature to post and should wait until I hear but loved these setting pics so much (thx @artroomsapp) that I thought ‘what the heck 😜!?!’ I wanted you to see what I’ve been up to!

Finishing up work for #EarthMattersExhibition whic

Finishing up work for #EarthMattersExhibition which is bumping in on 1 August at #blueknobgallery.

14 mini abstract landscapes, one series is about the widespread drought that parts of this country experienced before the devastating fires of 2019/20 and the other is about habitat loss and the impacts on our native wildlife.

I have enjoyed working in these 2 series, though had to do some wrangling with the frames by @jasart_au - gobs of glue visible that were not easily removed without damaging the timber finish. Aggghhh. Had to begin again on more than one painting because I couldn’t exhibit something that didn’t look good. 😟
