June 22 I’m running a workshop with @virginiarei June 22 I’m running a workshop with @virginiareid304 at Binna Burra.

We are going to be exploring the beauty and wonder of nature and her affect on us through drawing, mark making and creating an artist‘s book.

The workshop is part of the #artnaturescience program at @binnaburra that’s happening through out 2022.

Check out the info on binnaburralodge.com.
The beauty of paperbarks… a feast for the eyes… all the delicate marks… details of burnt sienna, vandyke brown and ivory buff.

Always the desire to collect fallen bits of bark and rub them between my fingers… to harvest for collage / paper making / a nameless art project !!!

Pitted against the tension to just admire and surrender the fallen bark to the ground and the critters.
In Episode 20 of Paintbrush and Ivories, @jennifer In Episode 20 of Paintbrush and Ivories, @jenniferruthrussell and I talked about the essential nature of art making and this quote by George Inness.

This past 2 weeks, I’ve had a full program and there’s been no studio time. There’s not really been much time for anything but the current project.

And today, I’m feeling the restlessness 😳 that happens when my art practice is not humming. I feel there’s not been enough stillness, not enough quiet. That’s a key part that art making now plays in my life. It’s becoming akin to time on the yoga mat for my heart and soul.

If art is part of your life, how do you think about it? What role does it play?

If you know you want some more time in creative mode, but don’t know where or how to start, join The Festival of Feminine Power & Artistry… 21 classes including one from me where I help you tap into the energy of Mother Earth. You explore 21 goddesses and their powers… and you are taken through each painting process from start to finish.

Collection of things… gathered on my walks with Collection of things… gathered on my walks with Lu. The chewed rib bone, the house no. that came loose in the floods and ended up in the creek a little battered and broken, the exquisite delicacy of the skeleton leaf (one of my favourite treasures in childhood), a paper wasp nest - delicate but dangerous, an ibis feather with its wisp of dark, the spiky bottlebrush flower and a collection of cardboard tubes taken from the dog 💩 bag rolls!!! 😂🤪
I finally had time in the studio this week… unex I finally had time in the studio this week… unexpectedly I was invited to put together a class for the Festival of Feminine Power and Artistry. Here’s the final piece from that class - Earth Mother: the Medicine of Resilience. Such a big topic for the planet right now.
So, the Festival opens today!!
If you want to hear more, you can catch my interview with the Festival creators on the Paintbrush and Ivories podcast.
In this week’s episode, I am joined by Whitney Freya, creator of the Creatively Fit Coaching program, artist and author, and Kim Sales an artist and Creatively Fit Coach to talk about their experiences and learning from working with women through creativity. I hear about their creative journey, what brings joy in their world, books and advice that has changed their lives and more about a wonderful current project – The Festival of Feminine Power & Artistry.

Finally got 20 minutes in the new art room to work Finally got 20 minutes in the new art room to work on my #100daysofmarkmaking

I love the relief prints off the foam board and the pattern of the hatch marks - they look good to my eye and are meditative to do!
Some days, we need our creativity to support our r Some days, we need our creativity to support our resilience and our mental health.

There hasn’t been much time for making art - moving house and studio x 2, then being in the floods… and I’m feeling it.

Trying to connect to my laughter and joy but not there yet.

Grateful for all my creative friends who have given ideas and advice on how to salvage much of my enameling gear. Getting there slowly, slowly… another day of cleaning, washing and spraying my tools and materials ahead… with a pause to record the overdue podcast episode with @jenniferruthrussell ☺️💕 that got lost in the floods.
Thank you Majorie for a great #SpiritArtClass. I k Thank you Majorie for a great #SpiritArtClass. I know we were doing the fire element, with inspiration from #henrimatisse… but the flood waters seeped into my design.

Loved doing this… cutting and sticking can be SO therapeutic 😌

Just what I needed. 🥰

Thank you @jenniferruthrussell for holding such a beautiful space and leading the 🎶🎵☺️

@mnmdulce5 thank you
Think these four ‘Flooded Country’ are done! Think these four ‘Flooded Country’ are done!

These are acrylic on plywood panel… I’ve been enjoying the robust substrate after the give of canvas. And I’m back working in one of my favourite palette combos - phthalo turquoise and nickel axo gold / red gold!

I began these mid last year, and am now just getting back to them. I love it when I look back on where they have come from. If you scroll across, you’ll see earlier incarnations.

Do you keep a record like this of your work as it progresses? And if yes, do you find you go back and review the stages?
